Why are some of my Amazon Sword's leaves dying after I planted it?

Amazon Swords sold from aquarium suppliers may be grown emersed (above water) in greenhouses — when moved to a submerged aquarium environment, the emersed-grown leaves are incompatible with underwater conditions and gradually yellow and die as the plant produces new submersed-form leaves from the crown. Plants from Microworms.in are submerged-grown and experience minimal melt, but some older leaf yellowing is still normal with any transplant. The correct response is to trim the yellowed leaves with scissors and leave the crown and root system in place. New healthy leaves will emerge within 1–2 weeks, and these are the permanent submersed-form leaves that will grow vigorously in the aquarium.
