We follow a strict preparation and packaging process tailored to each type of live product.

Fishes, Aquatic Animals & Crustaceans

  • 1 Individual species carefully hand-picked for health — only the best specimens are selected for dispatch.
  • 2 Treated and conditioned with appropriate water chemistry and acclimatization a full day before packing.
  • 3 Packed in double polythene bags filled with pure oxygen to ensure sufficient oxygen supply during transit.
  • 4 Bags cushioned with newspaper padding to absorb shock and regulate temperature inside the box.
  • 5 Final shipment sealed and shipped in a heavy-duty 5-ply carton box for maximum protection.

Why 5-Ply Carton Boxes?

All orders — regardless of size — are shipped in heavy-duty 5-ply corrugated carton boxes. These are significantly stronger than the standard 3-ply boxes used by most sellers. They resist crushing under courier stacking, handle rough transit conditions, and provide an extra layer of insulation — keeping your live products safer throughout the journey.

Temperature Limitations

Live arrival is guaranteed provided temperatures along the entire shipping route and at the destination do not exceed 45°C. During extreme summer months, we may delay dispatch to protect the animals — we will contact you to reschedule when safe conditions are confirmed.

Microworms.in is not responsible for carrier delays, mis-routing, or any mistakes made by the courier partner during transit.

Our Shipping Partner

We ship through Delhivery, a trusted logistics company with a robust pan-India network and end-to-end tracking. Once your order is dispatched, you will receive a tracking link to monitor your shipment at every step.

While we choose the fastest available service for live shipments, delays caused by the courier are beyond our control and are not covered under the live arrival guarantee.

Weather-Related Shipping Delays

We reserve the right to delay or hold a shipment if weather conditions — including extreme heat, rain, or flooding — are not suitable for safe transit of live animals. The safety and well-being of the animals always comes first.

If a delay becomes necessary, we will proactively contact you with updated dispatch information. We appreciate your understanding — this policy protects the animals and ensures you receive a healthy order.

Circumstances Beyond Our Control

Despite our best packaging standards and thorough preparation, certain events are outside our control — including unexpected courier handling failures, extreme weather events en route, or unusual delays. We take every precaution to minimise these risks, but we cannot guarantee outcomes in such exceptional situations.

Microworms.in reserves the right to cancel and fully refund any live product order at our discretion when we determine safe delivery cannot be guaranteed.

Please verify your state and local regulations regarding the ownership, keeping, or breeding of the specific species you are ordering. Microworms.in will not be held responsible for any legal consequence arising from your failure to check applicable laws, and we will not knowingly violate any such laws.

Dead on Arrival (DOA) — How to Claim

We make the refund process straightforward. Follow the steps below to submit a valid DOA claim.

Unboxing Video is Mandatory

A clear, uncut, unedited unboxing video is the only accepted proof for all DOA claims.

Report Within 6 Hours of Delivery

DOA claims submitted after 6 hours of the confirmed delivery timestamp will not be eligible for a refund or replacement. Please inspect your order immediately upon receiving it.

    Start Recording Before Opening

    Begin your unboxing video before you open or cut the outer carton box. The sealed outer carton must be clearly visible at the start of the video — this is non-negotiable.

    Do Not Cut or Edit the Video

    The video must be a single, continuous, unedited recording with no cuts, pauses, jump-cuts, or video editing of any kind. Edited or trimmed videos will not be accepted as valid proof.

    Clearly Show the Dead/Affected Animals

    During the unboxing, clearly display all affected animals so that their condition is visible on camera. The video must show that the animals were dead upon arrival — not after opening.

    Send Video + Order Details via Email

    Email your unboxing video along with your Order ID, name, and contact number to support@microworms.in within 6 hours of delivery. We will review and respond within 24–48 hours.

Special Note: Snails & Slow-Moving Species

Snails and certain other slow-moving organisms may appear motionless or "play dead" after the stress of transit. Please wait 10–15 minutes and gently place them in water before concluding they are DOA. Claims for species that later show activity will not be processed.

Claims Will Not Be Accepted Without a Valid Unboxing Video

No exceptions. Photos alone, partial videos, or videos that begin after the box has already been opened will not qualify as valid DOA proof. Please ensure you record the full unboxing from start to finish every time you receive a live order from us.

Our guarantee covers DOA situations only — not transport-related stress or cosmetic issues.

  • Animals that are confirmed dead upon arrival (DOA) with valid unboxing video proof
  • DOA reported within 6 hours of delivery timestamp
  • Full uncut, unedited unboxing video submitted via email
  • Shipments where packaging was damaged due to courier negligence (with evidence)
  • Orders affected by a clear carrier error (with tracking evidence)

❌ Not Covered Under Our Guarantee

  • Fin damage — minor fin tears or nips caused by transit stress are natural and not covered
  • Colour fading — temporary loss of colour due to shipping stress is normal and reversible
  • Lethargy or sluggishness — animals may need time to acclimatise after transit
  • DOA claims reported after 6 hours of confirmed delivery
  • Claims without a valid full unboxing video as described
  • Deaths occurring after the animals have been introduced to your tank/setup
  • Losses due to incorrect acclimatisation by the customer
  • Snails or similar species that appear dead but revive after acclimatisation

Why Don't We Cover Fin Damage or Colour Fade?

Fin damage and colour fading are common, temporary effects of the stress of being in transit. These are not signs of a poor-quality animal — with proper care, clean water, and good nutrition, most fish recover completely within a few days. We inspect every fish before dispatch to ensure they are healthy and vibrant.
