Rare wild mouthbrooding betta from Northeast Thailand — copper-gold metallic iridescence with blue-green scale edging. Pair in stock. One of the most extraordinary wild bettas available in India.
Betta smaragdina — the Emerald Betta — is native to rice paddies and slow streams in northeastern Thailand, Laos and Cambodia. The Copper form displays a warm, burnished copper-gold metallic iridescence with blue-green scale edging — complex and shifting, moving between copper, rose-gold, bronze and teal depending on light angle.
Crucially, B. smaragdina is a paternal mouthbrooder. After spawning, the male collects all eggs into his mouth and broods them for 10–14 days, releasing fully-formed free-swimming fry — a completely different and more intimate breeding experience than bubblenest species.
