🌙 Omega-3 Rich 🟠 Colour Enhancer ♾ Self-Sustaining

🧬 Why Cyclops Are the Premium Live Food

Cyclops copepods occupy a unique nutritional position in the live food hierarchy. Unlike Moina (water fleas) or Daphnia — which are primarily protein-rich zooplankton — Cyclops are naturally rich in EPA and DHA omega-3 fatty acids, the same essential lipids that make marine fish diets so valuable for ornamental fish conditioning. These fatty acids directly support reproductive health, immune function and the production of fat-soluble carotenoid pigments.

The astaxanthin content — producing the distinctive reddish-orange colour in well-fed Cyclops — is transferred directly to the fish that eat them. Fish fed live Cyclops regularly show measurably deeper red, orange and pink colouration within 2–4 weeks. No synthetic food additive produces this same pigmentation depth as naturally-sourced astaxanthin from live Cyclops.

Red Cyclops tip: Cyclops that appear reddish-orange are the most astaxanthin-rich individuals — harvest and feed these to fish in conditioning for maximum colour benefit. They appear when the culture is well-fed with carotenoid-rich algae (green water). Feed them to bettas, tetras and guppies for the most dramatic colour enhancement.

Best Applications

  • Colour conditioning: Astaxanthin from live Cyclops produces vivid red, orange and pink pigmentation in bettas, guppies and tetras within 2–4 weeks.
  • Breeding preparation: Omega-3 fatty acids support egg development and spawning readiness — daily Cyclops feeding is the most effective single dietary conditioning tool.
  • Nano fish: At 0.5–1.5mm, Cyclops are the ideal adult food for Chili Rasboras, Ember Tetras, Microdevario and other small-mouthed nano species.
  • Juvenile transition: Cyclops bridge the gap between microworms and adult live food — ideal fry food from 10–15mm body size onwards.
  • Wild bettas: Cyclops are a natural prey item for wild betta species — the feeding trigger response is particularly strong in Mahachai, Smaragdina and Imbellis.
