🍂 IAL strongly recommended. OHM over-spread tip exposure is greater than standard HM; IAL tannins protect the mustard yellow fin extremities from bacterial attack. Add from day 1.
⚠️ Two-colour, two different care needs. Dark body = structural (health). Yellow fins = xanthophyll diet. Sponge filter non-negotiable. One male only.
🐟 Mustard Gas Colour Keys
Yellow fins — xanthophyll pellet: Marigold/spirulina pellet as base; Blood Worm Sticks 2–3× max; excess Astaxanthin risks orange shift.
Neutral to warm LED (3500–4500K): Enhances yellow mustard fins; keeps dark body rich; cool LED shifts yellow toward green.
Dark substrate + IAL water: Maximum dark-vs-yellow contrast; each colour intensified by the other's background.
OHM advantage for Mustard Gas: Over-spread shows more yellow fin surface than standard HM. The over-fold also reveals the bicolour transition zone where dark body meets yellow fin — the most visually interesting detail unique to OHM bicolour Bettas.
