🟠 Marble gene: colour will change over time. More white may develop with age. This is a feature of genuine marble-gene Nemo Bettas — not a defect. The fish still breeds Nemo offspring.
⚠️ Sponge filter only — HM fins very flow-sensitive. Smooth decor only — no sharp plastic. One male per tank. Male + female in separate tanks always.
🐟 Keeping the Orange Vivid
Astaxanthin diet: Blood Worm Sticks 3–4× weekly — Astaxanthin directly maintains orange carotenoid pigmentation.
Warm LED (3000–4000K): Most impactful single change for Nemo appearance — orange looks completely different under warm vs cool light.
25–28°C temperature: Warm water supports pigment production and immune function in HM varieties.
Pair breeding: Nemo × Nemo produces 40–60% vivid Nemo-patterned fry. Condition separately 7–14 days, IAL + soft water at 27–28°C, floating Pennywort for bubble nest. Most popular Betta pattern for hobbyist breeders.
